BINGHAMTON, NY - This week the offices at the FIVE are pinking out for breast cancer! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and The Agency and the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce want to show their support for breast cancer fighters and survivors alike. To help raise awareness, the organizations have coordinated with the American Cancer Society to showcase the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer giant pink inflatable chair at their Five South College Drive location until October 22, 2020. Usually found outside of Lourdes Hospital to encourage residents to participate in this year’s month-long Stride Your City event, the chair will have a change of scenery as it inspires drivers on Upper Front Street to get involved.
The American Cancer Society is asking you to be part of a nationwide challenge to raise funds for breast cancer research. Monies raised also go towards the American Cancer Society’s 24/7 cancer patient support hotline and other cancer support efforts. Due to COVID-19, fundraising efforts by the American Cancer Society are facing more challenges than before. The Virtual 5K Making Strides event allows survivors, caregivers, and other allies in the fight against cancer to come together even when we are apart.
Sign up to Stride Your City anytime during the month of October! Make a donation when you sign up to participate or submit a $30 donation to receive your “Pinked Out! Pack” to join the offices at the FIVE in promoting breast cancer awareness by pinking out your own home! Pinked Out! Packs come with balloons, streamers, Luminaria Bags, and everything else you need to celebrate the fighters in your life.
