After a public hearing on December 12, 2019, Sam A. Lupo & Sons, Inc., a PILOT and Sales Tax Exemption request went before the Board of the Directors at the Agency Wednesday, December 18. A third generation family run business, Lupo's has been a staple in Broome County for decades. The original Lupo’s store opened on Watson Boulevard in 1951, and since then the family has only grown from their store front in Endicott to a wholesale meat manufacturer providing fresh, quality and classic meat products and unique marinades throughout Broome County and beyond, including their classic and well-known Spiede.
Now, Lupo's is looking to continue their expansion with a 9000 square foot addition to their administrative offices, bringing in brand-new cooling and refridgeration systems, and aquiring, rennovating and equipping a 10,000 square foot building located at 625 Dickinson Street in the Town of Union. This will enable the Lupo family to continue taking on current business and expand beyond the limits of their current facility. The 10,000 square foot building at 625 Dickinson Street will become the new home for their administrative offices, storage, and employee areas.
The Agency Board of Directors voted to approve financing incentives unanimously in favor of the family run business. The Agency is thrilled to be able to support a local family run business; Lupo's is a shining example of a business that opened here, expanded here, and is still growing and bringing a good life to a dormant building.
Locals can find Lupo's products in nearly all local grocery stores and those out of the area can peruse their inventory online or at other locations indicate on their website. To read more about Lupo's and their products, visit their website at https://www.spiedies.com/.
