Building Broome's Entrepreneurial Spirit

Binghamton Business News

Yesterday was a busy, but truly rewarding day for us at The Agency.

We started off bright and early at Traditions at the Glen for our Fourth Annual Community Breakfast. There, our Executive Director Kevin

McLaughlin and our Deputy Director of Community and Economic Development Stacey Duncan led a presentation showcasing our vision and plans for continuing our role as the leading dynamic, approachable driver of economic development in Broome County.

We believe that, “The work of economic development is a complicated mix of salesmanship, customer service, relationship, building and a healthy dose of good fortune” (Area Development magazine). Broome County is a perfect archetype of these words and The Agency is poised to serve as a catalyst, partner and investor that delivers job opportunities, development sites and an enhanced quality of life to Broome County.

This is our mission.

We are always striving to promote and leverage any/all available resources in order to foster economic growth in Broome County. We work by this mission each and every day. It guides us in what we do as an industrial development agency and the projects we invest our time and energy in.

Some of the most successful projects we've had a hand in recently are the Dick's Sporting Goods, Inc. Regional Distribution Center in the Broome Corporate Park (which we were honored to receive the 2017 Large Project of the Year Award from the New York State Economic Development Council for), the Century Sunrise redevelopment in Johnson City and the establishment of the 50 Front Street Luxury Apartments in downtown Binghamton.

Later that morning, we took part in the groundbreaking for the 50 Front Street Luxury Apartments. We supported this project because it will be instrumental in rebuilding and revitalizing a historic area of Binghamton, as well as filling the increased need for professional housing in our region. It is the first market rate construction in the city in several decades. We congratulate Newman Development Group, LLC for their commitment and can’t wait to see it completed. We are so proud to have had a hand in this project’s coming to life and were so happy to be there for the groundbreaking yesterday.

There's still more work to be done in developing Broome County, but we're so proud of how far our home has come and what we, as an area, have accomplished up until this point.

Through it all, The Agency believes in and stands by our goal to continually support and build the entrepreneurial spirit that built Broome County.

We can’t wait to continue serving Broome County’s economic needs #defineyoureconomy #Broomeisgood #thrivenow.
