Broome County Development Project Spotlight

A New Building, A New Opportunity

We recently announced plans to construct a dynamic business and economic development center at the south entrance of the SUNY Broome Campus. This "one-stop" facility will house a multitude of economic and business development partners. Funding for the this project is through a NYS Economic Development Assistance Program grant secured by former Senator Tom Libous.

The Agency is working with Delta Engineers, Architects & Land Surveyors and Fahs Construction. A groundbreaking ceremony is expected to take place this summer. Look for more details in our upcoming newsletters.

Our partnering organizations will include: Alliance for Manufacturing & Technology, Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce, National Development Council, New York Business Development Corporation, The Center; Built for small business growth, Visions Federal Credit Union and other municipal and business development organizations.

TRANSPORTATION/LOCATION

STRATEGIC INDUSTRIAL AND COST ADVANTAGES

With major highway systems intersecting in Binghamton, the area has become known as the crossroads of the Southern Tier. The Southern Tier Expressway, NY Route 17 (future I-86), crosses the area in an east-west direction and places Binghamton on a direct, limited access route between New York City and major Midwestern cities, including Chicago and Cleveland.

The North-South Expressway, Interstate 81, ties the region to Canada, central New York, Pennsylvania and points South. Interstate 88 links Binghamton directly to Albany, New York State’s capital, and to other important northeastern markets, including Boston and Montreal.
